Library computers are provided for use by American Library
members only (no exceptions).
Users must be familiar with the basics of the Microsoft
Windows 95® Operating
System.
Members may use any of the programs included with the Office
97 Professional software suite. These programs include:
Microsoft Word 97
Microsoft Excel 97
Microsoft Access 97
Microsoft Powerpoint 97
Users must not use Microsoft Outlook 98 for their e-mail
needs.
The Library can not manage individual e-mail accounts for its members and no messages can
be stored on our machines. Members are encouraged to set up a web-based e-mail account
such as Hotmail®. Internet access time required for the set up process will be free
of charge. Normal connection charges will apply for consultation of e-mail accounts.
Users may NOT modify system settings or individual program
settings (such as toolbars or default template settings) without permission from a
librarian.
Users may NOT install software or modify programs on library
machines (no exceptions).
Users wishing to change the keyboard or keyboard layout must
ask for assistance.
Library members who wish to access the Internet must notify a
librarian at the Circulation desk so that a timer may be set. Please notify a librarian
when disconnecting from the Internet. Failure to do so may result in extra connection
charges.
The American Library is pleased to be able to offer computer
facilities and Internet access to its members. Please remember that computers are delicate
machines and require proper use and regular maintenance. Please be patient if the system
must be shut down for repair.
The Library reserves the right to refuse access to its
microcomputer facilities to any person (member or non-member) who does not respect the
above-mentioned rules.
